Club Update – New Committee & Season Ahead
Hi everyone,
We’re delighted to share that the new committee is now in place, with a really positive start and clear focus for the season ahead.
Committee:
Massimo (Chair)
Jimmy (Vice Chair / Equipment)
Enda (Club Captain)
Sharon (Treasurer)
Méabh (Secretary)
Catherine (Youth & Safety)
Training & Water Activity
This season, training will focus mainly on FISA/coastal rowing, with regular water sessions planned depending on conditions (pier / Mountcharles).
At the same time, for those interested, skiff rowing will also be available, keeping the tradition alive and offering more variety.
The goal is simple: more time on the water, improving skills, and enjoying rowing together.
Events & Regattas
We are planning participation across both formats:
FISA / Coastal events: Glenarm, Ocean to City
Skiff / Traditional events: Killybegs Regatta
These events are open to everyone — whether you want to race, try something new, or just be part of the experience.
Open Day – 18 April (tbc)
We will host an Open Day to welcome new members and get everyone involved:
- On-water rowing sessions
- 500m erg challenge
- Opportunity to try different boats
Feel free to bring friends, family, or anyone interested in rowing.
Membership
Membership will remain as usual, with a couple of additional options this season:
- Water-only membership
- Active seniors 65 yrs+ membership with a reduced fee
Club Facilities
A clean-up day and improvements to the clubhouse and yard are planned to get everything ready for the season.
Final Thought
Rowing is not just about racing — it’s about being part of a community, enjoying time on the water, and challenging yourself along the way.
Onward and upward!
Massimo
